Burge Bubbles? I heard …

Hi Foodies,

How is 2020 treating you? I am certainly not enjoying it so far. With the bushfires from January, hailstorm in Canberra followed and then the nasty COVID-19 kicked in. It is always sad to see real people leaving us, let along so many of them this year……

This is a good lesson for all of us that we need to be together, whether work together or fight together to achieve our goals in this difficult time.

Recently I’ve came across two new wines to the Burge Family Wines

  • Her Amelia Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay; and
  • Versus by Amelia and Trent Burge.

The 6th Generation of the Burge Family, Amelia Burge launched these two beautiful bubblies in August 2020. These new additions to the Borossa Valley’s wine making scene makes them perfect for both celebratory or everyday enjoyment.

Amelia Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay is made in a traditional bubbly fermented style. With a golden hue, this sparkling has good refreshing summer fruit flavours with delicious creamy mouthfeel. As a wine chemist, I espcially liked the subtle flavour on the palate while no sour strigency can be experienced. It is suitable to start the night with or goes well with a seafood pasta or creamy gnocchi.

Versus is a co-invention by Amelia and her brother Trent. This casual sparkling is fresh on the palate with a hint of citrus and a crisp finish. Food pairing wise, I would go with a Korean hot pot or a pan-fried fish dish.

Both wines can be found exclusively in Dan Murphy’s, BWS or Underground Barossa.

So foodies, what is your favourite young bubbly in Australia or in the world?

Until next post, enjoy and have a wine derful time.

James
