Hi Foodies,
If you ever lived in the West Beach precinct, you must have remembered Cafe Salsa, a cafe with lots of South American features but specialising in Italian food. The long 30 years running business have certainly left something in our generation. I lived in West Beach some 15 years ago directly opposite the cafe and I can still remember dinning there at night with the wind from the sea going by. It is such a beautiful place especially on a hot night to share some food with friends and family.
The cafe has closed for a while but has now reopened and is still offering mouthwatering Italian dishes and cocktails. The cafe was officially reopened by the City of West Torrens in March.
The menu at the venue is quite extensive with dishes that can surely satisfy many different requirements. For the full menu, access here.
Below are some of the dishes we enjoyed at the opening. Since there are many more of them, I will just pick up the ones that were very outstanding to comment on. The ones that did not get mentioned on do taste good too but for a timing issue, I can only write as much as possible. 🙂
The white baits were done to perfection! Deep fried stuff never disappoint you. The fish was crispy and crunchy while the white flesh was full of flavour! Well done 🙂
Lemon pepper calamari is another all time classic. The tender calamari was battered slightly and deep fried to reserve all flavours! The rocket and cheese salad complemented oiliness very well. Remember, drizzle some lemon juice over the top.
This gnocchi is second to none! The gnocchi was tender and chewy with the sauce flavours all over its body. The sauce was fantastic too – not too rich but good enough to stimulate one’s taste-buds to eager for more. Great!
Oh, pizza! What else can defeat the popularity of a pizza! I liked all 3 pizzas but especially this one – for the fresh prawns and seafood. The anchovies are the highlights with added saltiness to the pizza. Good job.
Scallopini Funghi – no traditional Italian cuisine is completed without the scallopini funghi! The tender veal steak combined with the mushroom sauce and the sides bring your knowledge and experience with Italian cuisine onto another level. It was creamy, very tasty and full of good flavours! Absolutely recommended!
If you like sweet creatures, both of the donuts and the Panna Cotta are pretty good, especially the donuts – I just cannot get over them! 😀
