In the previous post, I discussed how I felt about the Dublin hotel. I did enjoy some good yiros which I’ll talk about in later posts. However, in this post, I am going to show you another bad food experience at Glenelg on that day. Yum Sing is a successful family run business in Old Reynella with over 20 years experience. I never dined there before but lots of good words were heard since the time when I was in high school. In fact, when I saw the restaurant at Glenelg, I was excited and was willing to try their famed satay dish. However, the turnout was not as good as what I expected, both for the food and the service.
The first image of the restaurant to me was “empty”. The whole place was totally empty when I entered. I accept that cos I was already 3pm after my 45 minutes wait at the Dublin and no one would have much to each at this time of the day. I was already full after having my yiros but would love to try something new. I don’t normally dine at Chinese restaurants but I was so craving for some good satay. After ordering two satay sticks, I started taking photos.
“Are you going to open restaurants?” The guy in the photo above asked me.
“No”, I got so confused why he asked me this question, “I just take some photos for myself.” I said.
He then went completely silence and did not talk to me even when paying for the food.
Anyway, that’s not important. What went wrong was actually the food.
Satay Beef and Satay Chicken, $3.50 each. Satay, in it’s original context, means grilled skewers with peanut sauce. In western cuisine, we sometimes misuse the term satay for the peanut sauce but satay actually means grilled. Well, I accept that the meat served was deep fried instead of grilled. However, the taste of the meat was bland and dry, especially the beef. The peanut sauce was rich in peanut taste and this was good but it was overly sweet and spicy. It made me feel that I am having sweet and chilli skewers.
In addition, this place really gives me the feeling that it is a Chinese fast food chain. I don’t recommend it to my readers but if you want to go and spend more money and time, you may find it better than what I described.

Your feeling is definitely right! I should have been warned as there was no one in the shop at all.

Exactly. What a disappointing day! Actually on that day I did have some good yiros but have not got time to write about it. Anyway, has your wordpress issue been solved?
