Good Food and Wine Show 2011 ADELAIDE

It seemed the RAH has just finished, but anyone really noticed it was a month ago? Time flied so fast…uhh…. Today, another famous show has opened its door in Goyder Pavilion, Showground. My wife and I decided to take a day off to avoid the over crowded people. Adelaide is passionate about flavour, fine food, premium produce, and award-winning wines. If you are a enthusiastic foodie, this is surely an event not to be missed.


Once passed the ticket and entry point, an Information section is right in front of you and you know from this point onwards, you are immersed in some best produces and flavours in SA. The information point has everything you need to know about the show from the maps to show bags. Oh, if you show an ad from The Advertiser to the info point, they will give you a free show bag worth $50, including the following items.

Did you all see the celebrity chefs in the above pic? Yes, the first thing you want to do once you entered the show, is not to experience different food, but to get your tickets from the box office located next to Fisher & Paykel celebrity theatre.



We went to see Manu Feildel at 12:45pm. This one of the most well known French chef and business man was really funny, making lots of jokes and a hilarious atmosphere. Three recipes were shown and the laughs were everywhere among ppl. “Who cares whether his food is nice?” I heard two old couples talking :D. Most of the foods were prepared by his team in advance.





Ainsley Harriott was on show at 3:45pm but we didn’t go. It reminds me 6-7 years ago, I used to buy books published by this guy. Oh, anyway, the main point here is make sure you go to see these shows and enjoy yourself!


There were over 100 exhibitors this year and I am sure you will be satisfied if you sample a bit of everything, cos we did.


Cocolat provided two samples of chocolates with marshmallows and they taste good.



Chocolate provided by Le Cordon Bleu. Tasty!



SA famous brand, Beerenberg. “Wh wants to take a photo?” The lady asked. “Me, just give me a b****y good pose!” I said. Here you go. This is the pose~~



Butch’s Smallgoods. uhh, sorry I have to say this, I don’t like their products. I asked for a medium hot option and got a pepperoni, which is not hot at all but the chilli coated pepperoni was extremely hot.




Woolworth Macro Stand — Organic Food. On trial here, bread, cashew nut butter and almond butters were on offer. They are tasty but not crunchy enough and the cashew nut tasted very much like a peanut butter.





Hilton Brasserie High Tea. Beautiful sandwich and tasty scone! The high tea @ hilton adelaide costs $39 for the “High Society”, which is the right most stand in the photo, and $25 for “Sweet Delights”, which is the left stand. Both stands on display are for two ppl.




Luv a duck. This reputable duck brand brought live cooking demonstrations on deboning a duck, redering duck fats and cooking with duck breasts and various dishes were on trial. Oh, I need to mention that their duck fat baked potato was very tasty and the peking duck (actually not real peking duck like you tasted in restaurants) tasted nice with fruity flavours on palate. The duck breast were cooked to perfection with hips of flavours and tenderness.





Another place worth a visit was Riedel Wine Theatre. With different schedules, various wines were on offer for trial with an education class. We had Oxford Landing Estate wines. These wines were not bad, but only “not bad”. What I am saying here is the wines I tasted are okay for everyday drinking and are very affordable, but their tastes are not super duper. Easy drinking wines!


There were other fantastic brands as well, such as Murray River Salt, a fabulous pink salt manufactured from underground saline water, and Barossa Fine Foods, etc. The complete list can be found here. After tasting all foods and drinks, if your belly is still not satisfied, go to Coopers Beer Garden to try their food and beer match and enjoy the sunshine!
